Dirk Andreasen, MPT

Dirk attended both Ricks College in Rexburg and Brigham Young University in Provo, completing a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science. He then went on to get  his master’s in physical therapy from Idaho State University in Pocatello in 1992, graduating with honors.

Dirk has always had a love for human anatomy and physiology, with an emphasis on how the body moves, and how each part works in cooperation with the others. While still a young boy, he received a book on anatomy from his dad. He began to teach himself the names of the bones and muscles. His first actual experience with physical therapy took place at Madison Memorial 38 years ago, where he worked as a volunteer.

Dirk heads the 16-person Therapy Services department at Madison Memorial Hospital. His experience includes the following:

  • Assistant coach, offensive line (Sugar-Salem high school football team)
  • Back and neck rehabilitation
  • Functional movement screen expert (certification)
  • Madison Memorial sports medicine outreach program (director)
  • Neurologic rehabilitation
  • Online adjunct instructor for BYU-Idaho (anatomy and physiology)
  • Outpatient orthopedics
  • Wound care

He loves to build things with wood. He spends his spare time at his home in Sugar City with his four grown children and two granddaughters doing yard work, going fishing, and working on his Land Cruiser.
