Jacob D. Jensen, DO
Jacob Jensen, DO, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician at Madisonhealth Madison Memorial Hospital. Since beginning practice in 2017, he has focused on providing calm, coordinated care when patients need it most. He believes strong emergency care depends on preparation, adaptability, clear communication, and close collaboration among physicians, nurses, technicians, and specialists.
Dr. Jensen has specialized training in Wilderness, Austere, and International Medicine. His clinical interests include trauma stabilization, altitude illness, avalanche and environmental injuries, wilderness medicine, and care in remote or limited-resource settings. His work has taken him to Nepal, Haiti, Thailand, and Chile, where he has supported medical education, international outreach, and ultra-endurance events in challenging environments. He has also collaborated with search and rescue organizations, ski patrols, and special operations teams to provide mission-specific medical training.
Dr. Jensen earned his medical degree from Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences and completed his emergency medicine residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria. He then completed a fellowship in Wilderness, Austere, and International Medicine at the University of New Mexico, where he later served as a faculty member. He is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Jensen moved to Southeast Idaho in 2020 and is proud to serve the community both inside and outside the emergency department. He serves as the Local Emergency Medical Advisor for the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, medical director for the Idaho Falls Ski Club, and a NICA mountain biking coach. Outside of medicine, he enjoys skiing, biking, camping, backcountry adventures, and exploring the mountains with his wife and their four children.
