James Nicholas McCoy, MD
Dr. McCoy is a distinguished physician with an impressive academic and professional background, beginning with his undergraduate studies at BYU Provo, followed by medical school at Texas A&M/Baylor Scott & White, and residency completion at the University of Utah.
During his undergrad years, he served as an EMT, played a pivotal role in starting and supporting an EMT agency in Haiti after the devastating earthquake, conducted cancer research, and earned scholarships to present at national conferences. In medical school, he was awarded scholarships and selected among the top 10% of his class to tutor peers.
As chief editor of a medical textbook, he served as primary author for chapters on psychiatry and neurology, and co-author for gastroenterology. As chief resident at the University of Utah, he helped establish a rural residency program in Pocatello, Idaho, and was invited to present on residency development to the Association of Program Directors. His interests include rural psychiatry and neuromodulation with transcranial magnetic stimulation, ketamine and psilocybin.
He values time with his family and enjoys outdoor pursuits such as camping, fly fishing, hunting, backpacking, and dirt biking. In his downtime, he enjoys watching reality TV with his wife while attempting to convince her of the existence of Sasquatch and aliens. He has made zero progress in successfully convincing her.
