Madisonhealth offers a variety of prenatal, birthing, and post-birth classes for expectant and new mothers
Childbirth Class Series
This is the childbirth class taught in a 3-week series. It includes breathing and relaxation techniques, the birthing partner’s role, the process of labor and delivery, medication choices during labor, the post-partum period care of Mom, and newborn care. A tour of the Family Maternity Center at Madison Memorial is also included. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring two pillows and a birthing partner to class.

Childbirth Class Saturday
This all day Saturday class is taught by a Certified International Childbirth Educator and it includes breathing and relaxation techniques, the labor partner’s role, the process of labor and delivery, medication choices during labor, the post-partum period care of Mom, and newborn care. A tour of the Family Maternity Center at Madison Memorial is also included.
(If you prefer, this same course is available in our Childbirth Series. This same content is covered, but that option spreads them out into smaller class times over 4 weeks.)
Please bring to class a sack lunch and snacks for the day, two pillows for comfort, a labor coach, and wear comfortable clothes.

Hypno Mothering
HypnoMothering is a single session course which lasts for two and a half hours. This class is for Mom’s only. In order to achieve the best experience, we request that mothers arrange childcare for their children during the class to prevent disruptions. This class is designed to give new Mothers tools to face the new challenges of Motherhood. It will help you calm anxieties and deal with the stresses that come along with Mothering. This class gives you tools to deal with the emotional side effects of having a new baby. It teaches you about getting the most out of limited sleep, enhancing bonding, developing maternal instincts, and finding focus and mindfulness amidst the myriad of feelings that come with being a new mother. It is the way to find the calm in the new baby storm.
This class is offered monthly.

HypnoBirthing®
This is a five-week course with sessions lasting two and a half hours each. This is ideal for those who are looking for a natural approach to childbirth. This class will teach techniques for relaxation and visualization. You will learn how to develop a calm approach to pregnancy that will enable you to work in harmony with your body and your baby and prepare you for a shorter, safer, easier, and more comfortable birth for you and your baby. This class can be taken any time after 20 weeks of pregnancy and is taught by a Certified HypnoBirthing® Practitioner who is affiliated with the HypnoBirthing® Institute. A tour of the Family Maternity Center at Madison Memorial Hospital is also included. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring two pillows and a birthing partner to class.

Early Prenatal Class
This class is taught once a month and is designed to educate moms at 12-24 weeks of pregnancy. It provides tools to help you prepare for a great pregnancy by focusing on physical and emotional changes, nutrition and exercise, and stress relief techniques. This class is taught by an ICEA Certified Childbirth Educator. Please wear comfortable clothes.
Class Hours: 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM

Breastfeeding
The Breastfeeding Class is taught by an Certified Lactation Counselor to expecting parents. This one evening class will help educate expecting parents about the art of breastfeeding and its benefits for mom, baby, and dad. Learn how to have a positive experience and get breastfeeding off to a good start with proper latch-on techniques, nursing positions, engorgement prevention, and expression & storage of breast milk.
**This course is for adults only, please find a sitter if you have younger children.
This course is taught at the Madison Memorial Training Center located at 393 E. 2nd N. (EAST ENTRANCE), this is NOT located at the main hospital.
