Jacob B. Thatcher, DO
Dr. Jacob B. Thatcher completed his urologic surgery residency at Jefferson Health, in New Jersey. Originally from Rexburg, he has once again returned to the Upper Valley, now providing world-class care to his friends, his family, and members of the eastern Idaho community.
Among many other things, Dr. Thatcher takes a special interest in the following area:
- stone disease
- erectile dysfunction
- male infertility
- benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
- male and female incontinence
His minimally invasive surgical techniques leverage the very latest robotic technologies, leading to quicker recovery times for both benign and malignant conditions.
Dr. Thatcher was raised on a potato farm. Before practicing urology, he was a missionary in Brazil and a river guide on the Colorado. He completed medical school at Washington State University in Spokane, with a focus on osteopathic medicine and holistic care. He has added to his medical training in Alaska, California, Uganda, and the Philippines.
As a former fellow for the National Rural Health Association, as a one-time Paul Ambrose Scholar, and (currently) as a distinguished Holtgrewe legislative fellow at the American Urological Association, Dr. Thatcher advocates on a national basis for the need for specialized urologic care in rural communities. The things he values most include his wife, his four children, his relationship with God, and the great outdoors. He speaks fluent Portuguese and is conversational in Spanish.
