Pose Running
Happy National Running Day!
Aerobic exercise, such as running, has many health benefits. Our blood receives more oxygen and our body releases endorphins. Running can boost the immune system and also help prevent many diseases.
There are many health benefits to running; however, if not done properly it can really harm us. It’s important to have good form in order to make sure we aren’t causing damage.
Pose Running is a specific running form designed to protect our body and to help us be super efficient!
Pose running includes running with the ball of the foot hitting the ground first and then lightly tapping down on the heel, rather than running heel to toe. This prevents shock waves sent to the ankle, knee, and hips.
It’s also important to lean slightly forward and let your feet drop with gravity. Work with gravity and not against it in order to run more efficiently.
Then finally, when your foot has completed its stance on the ground, pull it up under the hip instead of throwing it backward. This will save energy and help proceed with the next step.
It takes practice to train the body to run like this, but it is well worth it!
Enjoy your running today!
